Buitenzorg Scout Centre

Located in the lush green Vursche Forest, in the heart of the Netherlands, Buitenzorg has been hosting Scouts and Girl Guides from around the world since 1949!

The accommodation centre features and two lodges (Beaver Lodge and Bat Cave), each equipped with indoor sanitary facilities, a kitchen with an oven, dishwasher and fridge, as well as a living room and a terrace with picnic tables and a campfire area.

With over 12 hectares of grounds, Buitenzorg offers a number of challenging activities and team games for groups to enjoy, such as mini pioneering, woodworking, archery and leatherwork. The centre is also conveniently located near Amsterdam, which can be easily reached by train.

This rural retreat provides an authentic adventure experience! Sit around a crackling campfire, roast gooey marshmallows and share stories of your action-packed days!

How could your trip to the Netherlands look?

It’s important to remember that with our help, you can plan your time in The Netherlands, to suit your youth group. There’s no fixed itinerary, every activity holiday is different. That said, we know it’s helpful to see how your time away could look, so here’s a sample itinerary to get the ideas flowing.

Day 1

Depart by coach from the UK arriving in The Netherlands in the afternoon. Spend the rest of the day settling in and exploring the area. 

Day 2

Explore the bustling and beautiful city of Amsterdam! This city’s vibrant culture is the perfect mix of old and new! Take a cruise through the winding canals and learn about the way the world works at the NEMO Science Museum! 

Day 3

Enjoy a coastal day at the Noordwijk sand dunes on a half-day guided bike tour. On the excursion, take in the beautiful sights of national parks, sample authentic Dutch apple pie, explore local souvenir shopshops, and the boulevard. This day offers the perfect opportunity to experience the Netherlands’ picturesque landscape through high-energy activities!

Day 4

It’s time for De Efteling Theme Park! This theme park has something for everyone, from river rapids and dive coasters to fairytale forests and steam carousels! 

Day 5

Spend the morning getting your creativity flowing and the colours popping as you paint traditional Dutch clogs! Then try your hand at leatherwork before making delicious pizza at the accommodation. In the afternoon, make a splash at the Baarn swimming pool!

Day 6

And after an unforgettable week, it’s time to board your coach and travel home.

For those groups who wish to camp, we have some great campsite options (own equipment needed) 

Yes, we have a number of options to choose from! We recommend the comfortable Stayokay Hostel Soest, as it has a stunning campfire where groups can gather around, toast marshmallows, and bond beneath the stars. 

There are several excursions that you can add onto your trip, such as Swimming Baarn, Amersfoort Zoo, and a sand dunes bike tour in Noordwijk.
