A hidden gem with untouched nature off the coast of Portugal
Welcome to the Azores – a sub-tropical paradise surrounded by the deep blue Atlantic, ready and waiting for exploration and adventure.
The Azores are a group of 9 islands and we think Ilha de São Miguel, nicknamed “The Green Island” or “Ilha Verde”, is the perfect choice for youth groups looking for endless outdoor adventure. The island is beautiful and lush, with volcanic peaks, balconied palaces, azure lakes, and calderas. A truly unique landscape and culture, with jaw-dropping scenery at every turn.
Kayak on the twin crater lakes of Sete Cidades to the northwest or hop on bikes and ride around the perimeter. Trek through Ribeira Natural Park and brace yourself to jump, slide and abseil amidst the natural wonders that surround you. Or head east to Furnas Valley with its fumaroles (volcanic openings in the earth’s surface emitting steam and volcanic gasses) and take a dip in the one of the two thermal pools. Adventure amongst the Azores natural wonders!
When you choose Venture Abroad and our activity holidays for youth groups, you choose to take all the hassle out of it. Our experts will help you narrow down the amazing choice of activities and plan your very own tailored itinerary. Activity trips to the Azores, your way!
