A warm welcome to Sangam!

Sangam translates into English as “coming together” and there is never a truer word spoken about a stay at this WAGGGS World Centre, which welcomes Guiding members from all around the world to take part in its international programmes each year. The safe and welcoming oasis of Sangam is a great way to start your time in India, allowing your girls to ease into a very different way of life. The food is simple, yet tasty and the site benefits from a water filtration system allowing you to drink the tap water. Enjoy a swim in the pool, take part in the many activities the team have planned for you as well as heading out into the local area to learn more about the culture and traditions, and get involved in some charity work.

A little bit of luxury!

When not at Sangam, we find it best to accommodate groups in hotels that we work with time-and-time again, rather than hostel-style accommodation. We tend to opt for well-known hotel chains such as the Sheraton – after all, it’s nice to have a little bit of luxury along the way!

Activities and Excursions

We recommend starting your trip with a stay at Sangam where you’ll enjoy plenty of arts, crafts and international activities, as well as plenty of time in the local community, meeting locals and taking part in some charity work projects. From there, you can head off for a week of exploration, seeing some of India’s most famous sights.

How could your trip to India look?

Like all Venture Abroad activity holidays for youth groups, you can tailor your time away to suit your group – however we know it’s useful to see how your time away could look, so here is a suggested itinerary.

Day 1

Your trip of a lifetime starts NOW! Fly from the UK to Mumbai, home to a brand-new international airport, and then private transfer to your hotel in Mumbai to rest and recoup.

Day 2

Head out to explore the city of Mumbai with a guided tour. Here, colours are vibrant, markets are bustling, and the energy is nothing short of electric. This city is a striking blend of old and new – a place where ancient temples sit gracefully amongst soaring skyscrapers, and street vendors meet Michelin masterpiece restaurants!

Day 3

It’s time to pick up your things and take the private transfer to Sangamwhere you’ll receive a warm welcome to the WAGGGS World Centre. The name is rather fitting, in the ancient language of Sanskrit, Sangam stands for ‘Coming Together’ – the friendships forged, and the memories made here are life changing.

Day 4 - 8

Take part in Sangam’s amazing international programme, both on and off-site. Immerse yourself in a warm and welcoming community, take part in a treasure hunt, explore the region’s incredible cuisine and spectacular sights – the memories you’ll create… just magical!

Day 9

Enjoy your final day at Sangam before youfly to Delhi. Delhi, sitting at the northern tip of the Golden Triangle, is known for its rich history, striking monuments, vibrant street food scene and beyond beautiful gardens.

Day 10

Enjoy a guided tour of Old Delhi before your private transfer to Agra, followed by a sunset tour of the magnificent Taj Mahal.

Day 11

Head back to theTaj Mahalto see it at sunrise – just breathtaking! You’ll also enjoy a tour of the city of Agra, before transferring to Jaipur.

Day 12

Today you will find out more about the city of Jaipurthrough a guided tour. This ‘Pink City’ is famous for its beautifully intricate architecture. Dusty pink palaces, concert halls, bazaars and temples line the symmetrical streets.

Day 13

This morning you’ll transfer back to Delhiwhere you can enjoy aguided tour of New Delhi. Here you’ll find a glorious mix of cultures, sights and sounds – an experiences for the senses!

Day 14

All good things must come to an end – which means it’s time to fly back to the UK.

This is now the third time I have used Venture Abroad, we visited Kandersteg in 2016 and Iceland in 2023. Venture Abroad are great to deal with, nothing is too much trouble and her expert help and advice is much valued. I would never consider an international trip without Venture Abroad.
