Belgium, WWI Battlefields
Based on 4 days, 3 nights coach tour for 48 passengers travelling April 2025. Subject to availability.
Remembrance, respect and understanding – a truly unforgettable trip!
For four years, the Western Front was the scene of many battles, sheer devastation of infrastructure, and a huge loss of lives. Now, for over 100 years, it has been the scene of learning, respect, and remembrance. A trip to the World War One battlefields is a poignant and memorable experience for Scouting and Guiding groups.
Walk through reconstructed trenches, stand on the very ground that men fought and died for, and bring home the reality of the conflict as you take a trip to some of the area’s cemeteries and memorials – from the large and imposing areas dedicated to tens of thousands of servicemen and women, to the smaller and more personal areas erected to individual soldiers and regiments.
Whilst in Belgium, many of our groups take the opportunity to add on something away from the battlefields, such as a day trip to Bruges where you can enjoy a canal cruise, shop for souvenirs and take a tour of Choco-Story.
And when you choose Venture Abroad, you choose to take all the hassle out of it, as our experts will help you plan your very own tailored itinerary. Trips to the WWI Battlefields in Belgium, your way!

The Peace Village – a great base from which to explore!
Located just a short drive from the town of Ypres, home to the famous Menin Gate, The Peace Village is a hostel that is set up to accommodate youth groups. With dormitory style indoor accommodation, the real surprise at this centre comes outside where you will find football pitches, campfire circles and plenty of activities and games for a little bit of a retreat after a day of exploring and learning.

Our team of History Tour Guides are a great addition to a Battlefields Tour. With extensive knowledge of the area, they’ll bring lots of real-life accounts, anecdotes, poems, facts and figures to keep your group gripped from start to finish. They’re also able to tailor your itinerary to include personal touches such as visiting locations significant to regiments from your local area, or to pay respects at the resting place of a family member of one of your group.
