75 Groups, Countless Adventures and Memories to Last a Lifetime
This summer, we saw 75 groups embark on unforgettable, life-changing adventures across the globe, from Disneyland Paris to the Swiss Alps, Norway, Mexico and beyond. Each Scouting and Girlguiding member returned from their trips with an abundance of new experiences that have helped them grow in confidence, connect with their community and create lifelong memories with their group.
Each trip we create is designed to help young members experience the world in a fun and meaningful way, and this summer we saw that in the bucketloads! We saw Scouts come together to celebrate what it means to be a part of their community as they walked the National Swiss Day Parade, a group visit the ruins of ancient Greece, Girl Guides white water raft through the Norwegian countryside and so much more!
Teamwork makes the dreamwork!
To make these trips as unforgettable (for the right reasons) as possible, it takes a strong team effort to help make this happen! From the Venture Abroad team preparing campsites and pitching tents, to the marketing team capturing all the excitement, our HQ team providing support behind the scenes, and our in-resort reps looking after groups throughout their stay – it truly takes a dedicated team effort to make these adventures so special.
KISC
The ultimate destination to celebrate the Scouting spirit
This year 27 groups ventured to Kandersteg, the home of Scouting in the Swiss Alps. For many groups, it was their first international trip, making it a time filled with adventure, friendship and an abundance of new experiences. Whether it was walking in the Swiss Day Parade and joining the international campfire, trekking through the mountain scenery or taking part in thrilling activities, it was truly an unforgettable experience for all!
4th Welling (Methodist) Scouts, Ruddington Scouts
Over the Swiss Day weekend, the Venture Abroad marketing team made their way to Switzerland, where they joined 4th Welling (Methodist) Scouts, Ruddington Scouts and Harlow District Explorers while they spent a week at Kandersteg International Scout Centre. The team joined 4th Welling (Methodist) Scouts on thrilling excursions such as ziplining, crate stacking and aerobics.
For the same reason that I volunteer as a Scout Leader – working with the young people is truly inspiring and I’ve met so many good friends in the leadership team, and I’ve benefitted in so many ways personally.
So yep, I love it!

The team also got to spend time with Ruddington Scouts and Harlow District Explorers at their campsite, at the international bonfire and flag break, taking in all the wonderful moments that happen across the campsite!
Adelboden
Connecting Girlguiding members across the globe
Adelboden is at the top of the list for many Girlguiding members and for good reason! With deep roots into Girlguiding history and the first WAGGGS Centre, Our Chalet, Adelboden offers Guides opportunities to learn and connect with their community while soaking up the Swiss culture in the most breathtaking settings.
The response from the girls is fabulous and makes the effort worthwhile. They have backpacked for the first time and had so many different experiences along the way. We have had lots of great feedback from them and their parents. It’s a pleasure and a privilege to be able to do it and we love it. We are also a little bit bonkers!

Catisfield Guides
Catisfield Guides took 27 young members and 11 leaders on an adventure and a look into the Girlguiding history. The group spent their week exploring Interlaken and taking in the incredible views from Tschentenalp. They also made stops at the must–visit Oeschinensee and Our Chalet to learn about the importance of the WAGGGS World Centre before ending their trip with a ride on the Niesenbahn.
Iceland
From glaciers to geysers: it was adventure to remember!
The land of fire and ice offers adventure like no other. Experience the unique and thrilling activities of hiking glistening glaciers, taking off on a super jeep adventure or even snorkel in between two continents! Iceland is full of magical and wow moments that will leave you wanting more.
It was a fantastic tour and all the girls and adults who took part have memories to last a lifetime!

Cambridgeshire East Division Guides
12 young members and 4 leaders from Cambridgeshire East Division Guides experienced everything Iceland has to offer, including a visit to the (not-so-secret) Secret Lagoon, a tour of the magnificent Golden Circle, a Sólheimajökull Glacier hike, a visit to the cool city of Reykjavík and so much more. Staying at the Úlfljótsvatn Scout Centre, the group had a unique Girlguiding adventure, one that was full of cultural exploration, geographical wonder and unforgettable memories that will stay with them for years to come!
Greece
Where action-packed adventures meet historical wonders under the Mediterranean sun!

Rugby District Scouts
Rugby District Scouts embarked on an adventure to the beautiful Greek town of Loutraki for a week of jam-packed action and historical discovery. From mornings making a splash in the Gulf of the Corinth to a day at SPORTCAMP and visits to the Corinth and the marvellous city of Athens, it was a trip that combined thrilling activities, cultural immersion and memories to last a lifetime!
Great experience for all ages! Its been 3 years of hard work. but its worth it when seeing the young people enjoy the trip.
