A visit to Kandersteg International Scout Centre is on many Scout groups’ bucket lists and for 4th Welling (Methodist) Scouts, they finally ticked it off!

From first challenges to once-in-a-lifetime adventures
At the beginning of the trip, 4th Welling (Methodist) Scouts met with the Venture Abroad marketing team, who joined them for some activities across the campsite. From ziplining and crate stacking to aerobics in front of the international Scout Centre on Swiss day, each activity gave the young members the opportunity to step outside their comfort zone and overcome new challenges.
The 4th Welling (Methodist) Scouts also participated in the famous Swiss Day Parade, joining over 1,500 Scouts in a march through Kandersteg village. Wearing their uniforms, holding up their flags, they experienced and overwhelming sense of pride and community.
On Swiss National Day, the Scouts joined with other groups from across the world in a mini jamboree at the international campfire. This event captured the essence and spirit of Scouting, bringing members together in a celebration of global friendship and shared community.
The rest of our trip was just as amazing as the beginning. The young people enjoyed white water rafting, rock climbing, abseiling and high ropes. It was an amazing experience. Seeing the young people’s faces during the different activities was definitely a “this is why I did this” moment!

A seamless journey from planning to adventure
After a week of fun, friendship and incredible new experiences, it was time to say goodbye to the Kandersteg International Scout Centre and head home.
The Venture Abroad team have made the whole experience less stressful! From Amy helping me advertise to the young people and parents. Mirja who was always there, answering any questions I had whilst putting everything together and checking in that everything made sense. The amazing media team who made us feel comfortable when interviewing, taking photos and checking we were having a wonderful time. To Ellie who was our amazing onsite rep! She made our week easier and smoother. Having her onsite and helping us navigate to our different offsite activities was an absolute godsend!

Experiencing the magic of KISC first-hand
The marketing team had a great time meeting the 4th Welling (Methodist) Scouts. It was joy to become part of their group while they explored KISC and took part in some fantastic activities. The marketing team got to see young members push themselves in challenges such as the create stacking and ziplining, getting ready to walk in the parade and enjoying the energetic atmosphere during Swiss Day aerobics. It further showcases why these trips are so magical for Scouts and leaders alike. With the buzzing atmosphere, meeting like-minded people from across the world and coming together to celebrate the spirit of Scouting, it’s clear why this destination is a favourite among many.
