First on the list is the Kandersteg International Scout Centre, located in the breath-taking Swiss Alps. Tens of thousands of Scouts from across the globe attend KISC each year, and many opt to stay at the vast campsite. The camaraderie is buzzing, the excitement is everywhere, and the opportunities are endless here!

If your unit chooses to travel during the summer months, you’ll have tents, catering shelters, and catering equipment all provided for you.

For groups craving adventure, KISC offers the ultimate alpine experience. From canyoning and white-water rafting to hiking to Oeschinensee and participating in workshops, there’s no shortage of exciting activities to choose from!

16th Bolton Scout Group, Sarah Cavanagh

Merkenveld Loppem or VJH Leuven and Brussels, Belgium

Belgium offers the perfect mix of adventure, culture, and history, making it an excellent destination for Scout and youth groups.

Merkenveld Scout Centre, located in West Flanders, is surrounded by woodland and open countryside, with comfortable accommodation, campfire areas, sports fields, and plenty of space for outdoor activities.

De Kluis Scout Centre, near Leuven, is one of Belgium’s leading Scout campsites, offering fantastic facilities and a true international Scouting atmosphere.

Activities are countless here, too! From high ropes courses, forest biking, and team-building challenges to thrilling days at Walibi Theme Park and Aqualibi Water Park, there’s something for everyone. Groups can also explore the famous WWI Battlefields around Ypres, visit the Atomium in Brussels, discover Bruges on a day trip, or take part in chocolate-making workshops and city treasure hunts.

7th Epping Forest Scout Group, Stephanie Coxell

Buitenzorg Scout Centre, the Netherlands

Located in the beautiful Vuursche Forest, Buitenzorg Scout Centre in the Netherlands has welcomed Scouts from around the world since 1949. Set within 12 hectares of woodland, the centre offers comfortable lodge accommodation, campfire areas, and plenty of space for outdoor activities and team games.

There are countless opportunities for groups to get involved. At the centre, Scouts can take part in archery, pioneering, woodworking, leatherwork, and team-building activities.

Beyond camp, groups can enjoy a bike tour through the Noordwijk sand dunes, visit the famous windmills of Zaanse Schans, take part in cheese-making and clog workshops, or spend a day at the magical Efteling Theme Park. Amsterdam is also within easy reach, offering canal cruises, the NEMO Science Museum, and plenty of opportunities to explore one of Europe’s most exciting cities!

Úlfljótsvatn Scout Centre, Iceland

Experience the adventure of Iceland from the heart of the countryside at Úlfljótsvatn Scout Centre. Set amongst stunning landscapes of mountains, lakes, and volcanic terrain, this renowned Scout Centre offers groups an unforgettable base for exploration and adventure.

Groups can choose to camp, with tents and equipment provided to build their own campsite, or stay in comfortable group cabins. Full-board catering is available, allowing leaders and participants to make the most of their time discovering Iceland’s incredible natural wonders.

From glacier hiking and lava tube caving to whale watching and white-water rafting, Iceland offers adventure at every turn. Groups can also explore the famous Golden Circle, relax in geothermal hot springs such as the Blue Lagoon and Secret Lagoon, enjoy horse riding, snorkelling, and Super Jeep adventures, or take a trip to the vibrant capital city of Reykjavik.

Scouts can stay in traditional Norwegian lavvo tents, offering an authentic outdoor experience in a woodland setting complete with picnic benches, hammocks, and a campfire area.
