My name is Rosa and I have the exciting role of being an In-Resort Representative for Venture Abroad in Adelboden during this year’s summer season!
Travelling is one of my biggest passions; I have been involved in Girlguiding since being a Rainbow, so visiting Adelboden and Our Chalet has always been on my list. Prior to starting this role, Switzerland was a completely new country for me. I can confidently say that I have been completely blown away by this place so far!

My first week in Adelboden was mainly centered around orientating myself to this new location, and establishing a bank of knowledge that I can come back to when supporting my groups who will be travelling out this season. Adelboden itself has a picture-perfect town centre, complete with a charming church and a variety of shops and cozy cafes. A great addition to the town is the outdoor swimming pool, providing the perfect way to spend an afternoon.
Like many places in this part of Switzerland, the scenery and nature around Adelboden is second to none, and I have been completely mind blown by the landscape here. There are many footpaths and well-signposted walking routes to enjoy.
In addition, it is great how easy it is to get out and explore other parts of Switzerland from Adelboden. The town is well connected by bus, as well as benefitting from being close by to Frutigen, where there are plenty of connections by train to various parts of the country. This week during our training, myself and some of the other Reps were able to explore Lauterbrunnen, Interlaken and Spiez by train from Frutigen.
Currently, I am looking forward to joining in on the festivities on Swiss National Day on Friday 1st August! Adelboden has a variety of events taking place, from a firework display to a parade down the high street.
I am also looking forward to meeting the groups heading out to Adelboden this season, and helping to ensure they get the most out of their time here as possible!
