The Chief Scout’s Award is the highest award members can achieve in each section. From ages 4 to 25, members can work their way through from Squirrels, all the way through to Scouts and become a part of the Scout Network, reaching goals, obtaining awards and making memories along the way. Each Chief Scout Award shows that members, no matter the age, have tried something new, participated in their community, helped a friend and overcome challenges.
But how can you achieve a Chief Scout’s Award? Here’s how:
Squirrel Acorn Chief Scout’s Award
To earn the highest award for a Squirrel Scout, members must complete two Activity Badges of choice and all four Challenge Awards. This shows that members have helped friends, tried new things and had a fun adventure!
Beavers Bronze Chief Scout’s Award
Beavers who want to earn the highest award must accomplish all six Challenge Awards, and four activity or staged activity badges, including Builder, Book Reader, Money Skills, Explorer, Gardener and more.
Cubs Silver Chief Scout’s Award
Abseiling is another great outdoor Scout activity. It puts groups to the ultimate test and gives them a strong sense of accomplishment when they reach the bottom. This activity strengthens members’ courage and resilience by encouraging them to step outside their comfort zones and overcoming fears, while developing trust, focus and communication.
Scouts Gold Chief Scout’s Award
Scouts must undertake the nine Challenge awards and earn six activity or staged activity badges of choice. This could be DIY, emergency aid, geocaching, media relations and marketing, photography and more.
Chief Scout’s Platinum Award
To earn this prestigious award, you must be a member of Explorer Scouts for a minimum of six months and complete eight nights away, four of which must be camping. Explorers must also finish two activities from the International Community and Value list, hold the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award or the Bronze Gateway Award and finish the four Platinum Scout Challenges.
Chief Scout’s Diamond Award
To gain the Chief Scout’s Diamond Award, members must be Explorers or part of the Scout Network for at least twelve months and carry out 16 nights away, eight of which must be camping. Members must also complete four activities from the International, Communities and Values list and hold the Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award or the Silver Gateway Award and complete the four Diamond Challenges.
