So… What is White Water Rafting?
White water rafting involves working together in a large inflatable raft to navigate fast-moving rivers and exciting rapids. A raft can usually hold up to nine people, all using single-bladed paddles to power through the water as a qualified guide steers and gives instructions.
The “white water” name comes from the foamy, bubbling water created when rivers move quickly over rocks and drops.
During a rafting session, your instructor may shout commands like:
- “Forward paddle!”
- “Back paddle!”
- “Hold on!”
- “Get down!”
Sometimes people fall in or even flip the raft completely! That’s all part of the adventure, and your guides will teach everyone exactly what to do to stay safe and have fun.
