Summer Activities
Hiking
What better way to soak up the stunning surroundings of Switzerland than hiking? Lace up those hiking boots, get the camera ready and take on the trails and steep hills. We promise the views are worth it alone! It’s a great way to explore local villages and the mountains while getting exercise in the great Swiss Alps.
Mountain Biking
Mountain biking is a heart-racing activity that’s sure to get the adrenaline pumping as Scouts peddle and weave their way across rugged terrain. It’s another activity that tests groups’ perseverance as they make their way up steep hills before feeling the speed as they descend!
Rock Climbing
A great activity for building confidence, resilience and problem-solving skills, rock climbing challenges Scouts to push their limits and support and motivate one another to complete their goal. It’s an opportunity for members to develop essential life skills while accomplishing a thrilling activity.
Canyoning and Gorge Walking
Canyoning and gorge walking are two of the most exhilarating activities Scouts can do while visiting KISC. Located in Interlaken, groups will be guided by a professional as they climb, slip and slide their way through natural pools and waterfalls. It’s the perfect activity for thrill seekers who are ready to jump into the action!
White Water Rafting
Experience the rush of white-water rafting and feel nature’s wild side! This is an excellent activity for groups to work on their team building skills, as water rafting requires strong communication and working together in sync. It provides Scouts with an exhilarating challenge that’s fun and definitely unforgettable!
Winter Activities
Venturing to KISC on a winter adventure is full of magic and excitement as it turns from a lush green landscape into a snow-covered winter wonderland. Scouts can still feel the buzz and camaraderie as they take on the epic snowy expedition that awaits!
Here are some of the KISC activities groups can do during winter.
Sledging
Sledging is another way to feel the rush as you race down the mountains! This activity guarantees laughs and excitement all round!
Igloo building
Learn how to build an igloo shelter with the snow surrounding you. With the help of a guide or kit instructions, groups must work together to ensure the igloo is safe and stable enough to enter. Members can learn how to make the blocks and a strong foundation before picking up the correct method of stacking and getting the dome shape correct. It’s a great bonding activity that requires communication, trial and error and destination.
Cross Country Skiing
Enjoy a day or more skiing across the county ski trails, which go around the Kandersteg village and into the KISC campsite. Groups will be provided with the correct equipment so everyone can experience a safe time on the slopes. Ranging from easy to difficult, it can give Scouts a chance to learn a new skill and develop their confidence in the snow.
Winter Survival experience
For winter adventurers, this activity provides real-life and invaluable skills as Scouts take part in high-altitude training. It often features snowshoeing, building emergency snow shelters and fires, as well as avalanche rescue.
Snowshoeing
Just like in the summer seasons, hiking is one of the best ways to see the beauty of Kanderstag, and in winter, snowshoeing is what makes it possible. Offering both guided and independent hikes, snowshoeing offers groups a top experience of exploring the Swiss Alps, where groups can take in the crisp air, frozen lakes and white-blanket mountains.
