Hello everyone, My name is Amelia, and I am one of the 2025 reps based in Adelboden!
I have had a great time in Adelboden so far, and I have enjoyed the beautiful scenery, amazing culture, and, luckily, the sunshine too!
A few interesting facts about myself are that I work part-time as a singing teacher in Huddersfield, where I also attend university. I am studying English Literature and my favourite book at the moment is Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman!
I have had a jam-packed and incredible experience so far!
One highlight of my week was my trip to Jungfrau, famously known as the “Top of Europe”. Firstly, I really enjoyed the journey up to the top of the mountain, getting a cable car to start and then a train to the top! On the cable car, I enjoyed looking out for people below who were hiking up to the top and also enjoyed looking at the views of the town of Grinderwald!

At the top of Jungfrau, my favourite bits were the Ice Palace, taking in the amazing ice sculptures and trying not to fall over on the ice (failed miserably). I also enjoyed going to the open area. I loved exploring the top in the snow, taking photos next to the Swiss flag, and seeing the top of the Jungfrau Mountain!
Whilst I was up the Jungfrau I sent a couple of postcards home to family and friends!
Another highlight of my week was my group’s boat trip from Spiez to Interlaken!
The town of Spiez is beautiful, especially towards the waterside! I enjoyed seeing all the small sailboats in the harbour, and I took a quick trip up to Speiz Castle to take photos of Mount Niesen!

The boat trip across Lake Thun is one of my favourite excursions in Switzerland!
The views of the mountains and the bright blue lake is unforgettable! On the boat trip I learnt about a myth of Lake Thun, the story of Saint Beatus and the dragon! This is a story I had never heard before, and I found this incredibly interesting as it was based in the St. Beatus Caves, which you can see on the boat ride!
Once we arrived in Interlaken, the group split into groups and went shopping! I went to some of the tourist shops for postcards and Switzerland memorabilia! The best thing I found was a rubber duck that was dressed in a Swiss Yodeller outfit (so iconic)!!
My adventures in Switzerland so far have been incredible, and I’m excited for many more!
